Sleeping Arrangments

So Gary has taken to sleeping on our bed at night. He sleeps at my feet over the covers. I have kicked this poor cat off the bed numerous times, to be woken by a loud, "RRRrrroew!" Followed by an even louder THUMP! He still continues to sleep on our bed.

So I have been consciously trying NOT to kick my cat. This trying not to kick him has interfered with my sleep. I been now sleeping diagonal in the bed to my poor husband's discomfort.

I sleep with a pillow between legs (back pain prevention). Last night, my pillow fell out from between my legs as I was wrestling to get the blankets from my husband. Gary immediately jumped on to my pillow at the end of the bed & fell asleep on it.

What did I do? Like a sap that I have become, I let him sleep on the pillow. I borrowed my husband leg to put between my legs.

Why did I choose this cat's comfort over my own? I'm not sure. Why does Gary continue to sleep at the foot of the bed even though I keep kicking him off? Not sure.

Faucet Please!

Gary asking, "Turn on the faucet, please!"

And of course I do it, because I am a sucker, whipped, pushover... (whatever phrase you may call me)

Bathtime for Gary

I have cat allergies. Not severe, but enough to aggravate me. So I bath my cat once a month, instead of talking allergy meds. This is the shampoo I bought from PetSmart for $4. Smells very good. After I give Gary a bath, he smells good for a whole week. Gary takes baths like a pro.

How to bath a cat:
1. Fill the tub up with warm water, not too hot.
2. Find your cat, put him in the bathroom.
3. Shut the bathroom door.
4. Find your cat (typically hiding at this point) & put him in the tub.
5. Use a cup to pour lightly on your cat until his fur is soaked.
6. Put on shampoo & scrub.
7. Use the cup to rinse... rinse very well.
8. Dry your cat, very well. He'll be spending the rest of the day grooming, so you may as well try to help him as much as you can by drying him really good.

Gary watches TV

Gary likes watching Star Trek.

Gary likes watching cats.

But sometimes the cats aggravate Gary & he meows at the tv & puffs up his tail 3x its normal size!

I am starting to think this cat is truly my own. Mainly because he likes watching Star Trek with me. :) How cool is that?

Cat Confusion

I ran out of Gary's kitten food. I have a huge bag of food that Gary, of course, won't eat. I tried once again to have him eat it. I placed it in his bowl and he stuck his nose up at me. I proceeded to get out my breakfast, Life cereal. Gary went nuts! Meowing at me, crying at me, rubbing his body against my legs. Poor guy thought that was HIS food!
I felt so bad for him. I immediately went to the store to get his box of food. As I walked in the door, he was right under foot, following me to his bowl. Am I pathetic for running out to get his food?

My Boys Are Sleeping

Apparently it's nap time. Both my husband and my cat are sleeping! I guess I didn't get the memo.

I didn't choose him, he chose me.

I came home from work today. Dan & Gary were home. I came over & sat by Dan, Gary jumped on my lap. Dan made a pout face, "He never sits on my lap." I told my husband, "I didn't even want him. I didn't choose him, he chose me."

It feels great to be loved and wanted, even if it is by this small animal. I find myself entertained by his curiosity and playfulness. He looks at me with such respect. I don't understand it. This little being loves me and I didn't even do anything.

Gary has been eating when I eat, going to the bathroom when I go, naps when I nap, and even will sit on my work papers when I am working. What did I do to have this little guy choose me? I feel flattered, but flabbergasted.

Getting yelled at as soon as I got home!

So I had an early day. I left at 7:30am to go babysit my niece & nephews. This, of course, is out of the norm for Gary. Typically I don't leave home until 10am. I worked after babysitting until 4:30. I come home and as soon as I walked through the door Gary was yelling at me! "Meow! Meow!" he said. I bent down to pet him, he moved away away, "Meerrp!" He continued to yell at me for 10 minutes, just telling me what he thought. So now I have a grumpy cat.

Lazy day

Today has been a lazy day for Gary & me. Naps & treats all day. :)
