Sundays with Gary

Gary is being such a lover today. I went to go pet him while he was laying down on our bed and he was so tickled. He kept standing up, putting his paws one on each of my shoulders. Gary was rubbing his head on mine. If he could purr, I know he would have been. He is such a good boy. He even went over to Dan at the computer and jumped on his lap to be pet.

Gilbert was watching all of this. He got a little jealous, especially when Gary jumped on Dan's lap because you know, Dan is Gilbert's human. lol So when Gary came to sit by me on the couch, Gilbert took a few swipes at him. lol

Gary has lost weight. I'm worried that Gilbert is hogging the food bowl. I haven't seen any bullying, but I do suspect it. I have been grabbing handfuls of their food and will place it in front of Gary & he will chow it down. I'm not sure what to do about this.

Gilbert loves Dan

It seems that no matter what Dan does, Gilbert just loves him! Dan can pick him up, flip him around and Gilbert just purrs and purrs. Dan will hold him, stick his finger in Gilbert's ear and Gilbert just purrs and purrs. Gilbert is just crazy about Dan.

Now Gary does have a preference for me, and will let Dan know that Dan is NOT his person. Gilbert is ok with my company. He curls up to me, lets me love him, but oh nelly, when Dan comes in the room, Gilbert just runs over to him waiting for Dan's attention.

I think it's great Gilbert loves Dan so much. They are a good pair together. Gilbert is such an easy going cat, Dan can poke & play with him and Gilbert just loves its. I think it's good for my husband, too. Gilbert has brought so much laughter and joy to my husband. It's good to see him laugh and get a twinkle in his eye.

Collars

We've always had a collar for Gary, the one with the little bell. So I got one for Gilbert. Gilbert was proud as pie when I put it on him. Walked around in front of Gary, showing it off. Well, Gary seemed aggravated at Gilbert's new status. Next thing I know, Gilbert is running around without his collar! We couldn't find it anywhere. Then Gary's collar was gone. My thought was Gary took his off so Gilbert couldn't hear him coming.

I manage to find Gary's collar behind the couch, but I hadn't been able to find Gilbert's. So I thought it wouldn't be fair to have one with a collar and not the other. 3 months later, I found Gilbert's collar. I am happy to say both have their collars on now, and they both don't seem happy about it.

Gilbert can't seem to figure out where the ringing sound is coming from! lol It's hilarious to watch him try to figure it out. He's walking around backwards! Gary hid under our bed. I am wondering if he is attempting to take it off.

Gilbert vs. Taxes

So it's that time of year, getting ready to file taxes, being a responsible citizen. I had all my bank statements laid out on the living room floor. Oh Gilbert had a field day with it! He was so adorable, shoving his nose under the papers, pawing at the folders. He would look up at me, sniff at my face and then go back to the papers. Then he scampered away like he had a bright idea.

He then brought his favorite toy over to me - the infamous plastic milk cap ring. I threw it, he brought it back, but this time shoved it under the pile of papers. I laughed at him and he just looked at me like "woman, play with me." So I dug out the ring from the papers, threw it again. This continued the entire process of me lying on the floor with taxes.

Leave it to my 9 month old kitten to make a stressful situation into a playful one. What a good kitty. :)

Haha!

I bathed our cats today. And I was watching Gilbert lick off the water when I noticed Gilbert's belly has gotten so big that when Gilbert is sitting, his belly completely covers his feet! Haha! Can't wait to take some shots of this!

Gilbert is becoming a beautiful cat!

I wanted to share these photos with my husband's daughters. I miss them so much. I watch Gilbert growing so fast and it pains my heart to think his two girls missed it. I pray everyday to see them soon and get to introduce Gilbert to them. I think Gilbert will love having 2 new friends to play with. Gilbert is so much fun. He loves to play, purr, and be petted. He is a great kitty - or I should say cat. He's almost all grown up at 9 months old! He is a plump cat, almost 10 pounds, who eats ALL the time. He has a squishy belly and he doesn't mind if you pet it. He lets you hold him close, while he purrs in your ear. Can't wait to share him.
