I found this photo today. I thought it was too cute not to share! I found it, also, sad.
How often are cats taken to pounds or are given up from their forever homes because someone ends up being allergic. I am allergic to our cats. I knew this going in. But I am the one that
baths them and I am the one that brushes them. I knew this was going
to be an issue and I am the one that does the prevention work.
I understand that humans, especially your children, are more important than pets. I got to thinking, however, that people need to do a little more planning, a little more foresight before taking home an animal. Go to a neighbor or a friend's house with animals first, to see if your child is allergic to them. Running to an animal shelter to pick up the newest animal might be fun for the moment. But because you chose that animal without any consideration to how it would affect you and people in your household, that cat, dog, bunny or hamster now misses out on an opportunity to find a REAL forever home.
So yeah, all of those thoughts went through my head, but I still think it's a funny picture.
