It's been a while since my last post. The cats are getting along so well!
Gary has been fathering Gilbert, it is so adorable! Gilbert has some pretty dirty ears. I think he just is that way, because I have cleaned & cleaned them and they still get waxy. So Gary has taken it upon himself to make sure the little boy has clean ears!
Gary has been pinning Gilbert down, much to Gilbert's frustration. Gilbert will wiggle and wiggle to try to get away. At which point Gary will WHACK! WHACK! Gilbert in in face to settle him down. This is followed by Gary furiously licking Gilbert's ears. Gilbert will allow this for moments before he starts to struggle against Gary's choke hold! Then again, Gary will WHACK! WHACK! Gilbert to keep him from wiggling out, then proceed to clean his ears. Haha! It is very entertaining to watch. I am grateful for Gary trying to help me out because Gilbert is a dirty cat!
We managed to change their food to a lesser fat content cat food, still Purina (of course). From 40% fat content to 36%. The shape of the food is the same. I think it is a logical step toward healthier food. They both are eating it without complaint. Dan, also put a small plate of the healthy food near their bowl to see if they will take to it while their food bowl with the Purina cat food is still full. They both have been nibbling at it! This is great news and could have not come any sooner. Gilbert is growing a gut! He has a sizable fat pouch. Dan likes to pick Gilbert up, belly side up, and pull at Gilbert's sack pouch. Gilbert, because he is completely in love with Dan, just lays there purring.
Gilbert is such a talker! He talks to Dan, talks to Gary, talks to company when they come over. I am not sure what he thinks he's saying. Gary will talk back to him, but I think Gary is more of a listener. It's usually followed by Gary pawing back at Gilbert.
These cats have entertained our lives and filled it with happiness. With all the stresses of life constantly picking away at my soul, it is so neat to come home to these cats. They have no idea how the world is, no idea how hard life can be. They know that cat food comes from a closet, cuddling with Dan feels good and that Stacy turns on the water faucet. To them, life is simple, life is good. It reminds me the simplify my life. Appreciate the little things. Little things such as eating everyday, having a roof over my head, and of course having 2 little kitties that for some reason think the world of Dan & me.
